IIT JEE is one of the country’s highly prestigious and competitive exams conducted for engineering courses. The competition bar of the IIT JEE is higher than the difficulty bar of the question paper. Students who aspire to evolve into top engineers appear for JEE. Every year, lakhs of students apply for the IIT JEE, thus increasing the competition. As the number of seats in IITs is limited, several students compete for seats to get admission to the top Indian Institutes of Technology. Students can also get admission to NITs, IIITs, etc., based on the JEE scores and ranks. Let’s discuss the success rate of candidates in IIT JEE Main in this article.

What Is the Success Rate?

The number of students applying for the JEE Main increases every year. Suppose around 12 lakh candidates appear for the JEE 2023 to test their luck, but less than 1% of aspiring candidates can reserve their chance at the top IITs. The other eligible 1.08% will be getting admission to the other reputed NITs. That means a high percentage of the candidates fail in the JEE Main 2023 result due to the limited number of seats, and only the top 2.5 lakh candidates will be eligible for the next phase, i.e., JEE Advanced. These students either decide on other engineering colleges out of dissatisfaction or go for a drop year and attempt next year because of the low success rate in the IIT JEE. Thus, the success rate will not rise to that extent as the number of aspirants since the number of seats is limited in reputed engineering colleges such as IITs, NITs, IIITs, etc.

Why Do Students Fail to Crack the JEE Main?

There are many reasons to consider why students fail to crack the JEE Main. One leading reason many students fail the JEE Main is losing focus when studying the concepts and becoming sidetracked. Some candidates will stop the preparation after a certain period of time. Suppose some students who are appearing for JEE in 2023 may focus on something other than the revision of concepts after releasing the JEE Main 2023 admit card. Also, some candidates spend too much time on social media, watch too many movies or television shows and lose confidence when solving tricky questions. Another main reason is putting off things and backlog, thinking that they will read the topic or finish solving questions from particular topics later, but later never comes.

Beating the JEE Main success rate might be difficult, but possible for the students who focus on the preparation. Students must adopt some of the strategies that the toppers follow to beat the low success rate of JEE Main. Effective time management and consistency at the preparation level are the keys to cracking the JEE Main. Practice, practice, practice – Practising the sample papers, solving previous years’ question papers and attempting mock tests are essential things to be followed in JEE preparation. Though the success rate in the JEE Main is very low, students can crack JEE Main with a well-planned preparation strategy and practice.
